Tell us about yourself
Hello, my name is Yuliia!
I am originally from Ukraine, currently residing in Switzerland since April 2022. I have over 20 years of extensive experience in the banking and financial services sector. My passion is problem solving and innovative technologies to develop effective solutions. I am deeply committed to continuous learning and personal development.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the world by traveling, and I sincerely want to contribute to making our world a better and more peaceful place.
Are there many women in your industry? Why is that or why not?
My experience is mostly at the crossroads of IT and finance, two historically male-dominated fields. Despite progress, the gender gap is still visible. However, change is happening in this era. Digitalization is everywhere, and the rapid evolution of technology requires diverse perspectives. Women are increasingly able to contribute to these technologies on an equal footing with men, contributing to a positive shift towards inclusivity.
Which aspect of your industry might interest other women to start work in this field?
The attraction of my industry lies in its limitless opportunities for innovation and problem solving. Women interested in technology and finance can find the ground to apply their skills. From developing innovative software to developing strategic financial solutions, this field offers the chance to make a tangible impact. In addition, the horizons that are opening up promote diversity, encouraging fresh perspectives and creating an environment for growth and creativity.
Which future trend is the most interesting in your opinion?
In my opinion, the most interesting and fastest growing trend is the development and integration of artificial intelligence (AI). The potential for AI to revolutionize processes, improve decision-making and optimize operations is astounding. Its adaptability in industries ranging from healthcare to finance to transportation offers a look into a future where AI-based solutions will play an integral role in the development of society, making this trend worthy of close attention and study.
Why did you decide to become a WDS Supporter Member? I joined the community as a WDS Supporter member driven by a passion for continuous learning and personal growth. My desire to make a positive impact on society brought me to this community. I would love to share my experiences, support fellow women, and inspire them to grow. I strongly believe in the power of collaborating and learning from each other, and see this platform as an opportunity to accelerate our progress towards common goals.
Tell us something about you that might surprise us!
Perhaps unexpectedly, I have a passion for origami. I most enjoy folding designs from modules or making flower balls. Origami serves as a form of meditation for me - a process I can either dive into to relax and distract myself, or use it as a background to solve problems. The joy is not only in the process, but also in seeing the beauty that results.
You recently took part of our first round of participants in WDS "Supporter Member Mentoring Programme" developed to support our community.
What initially motivated you to join the mentoring program?
Moving to Switzerland created a need to better understand the Swiss labor market, its companies, people and culture. Finding a mentor seemed like the best way to gain this understanding. As soon as Woman in Digital announced the program, I was excited to apply, realizing that it was an opportunity to navigate a new landscape. I am grateful for initiatives like this that foster learning and networking.

Participating in the mentorship program refined my ability to effectively navigate the Swiss professional landscape. I gained insight into networking, cultural regulations, and industry expectations. In addition, I have greatly improved my resume writing and LinkedIn profile optimization skills, which are critical components of success in the Swiss job market.
Were there any surprises or aspects that exceeded your expectations?
My mentor's exceptional helpfulness and willingness to provide constant support exceeded my expectations. His advice and guidance helped me not only to improve my current job, but also to navigate the complexities of finding a job in Switzerland. His support has been invaluable in building my confidence and motivation.
Therefore, I am convinced that mentoring is incredibly useful, especially for those just starting out in the Swiss labor market, for those looking to transition into a different profession, or for those seeking career growth and advancement.
