Meet Alina!

Born in South Korea, raised in sunny Southern California, and now living in Switzerland since 2023, Alina is a seasoned professional in the digital and tech scene. With a decade's worth of experience, her passion led her to establish the digital agency, Discipline.

Alina is all about helping people reach their goals, be it in the business realm or while building their personal brand. What really gets her excited? The future of AI – it's reshaping the digital landscape, and she's fully on board for the exciting collaborations it's bringing in.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Alina! 

I was born in South Korea, grew up in Southern California, and came to Switzerland in 2023. 

After a decade of working with digital and tech companies in various leadership roles, I took a leap of faith to establish my own digital agency, Discipline. With the rise of digital creators, I wanted to leverage my expertise in helping build brands and online communities. It's very rewarding to assist people with expanding their messages to a larger audience through creative branding strategies and innovative tech development.

Are there many women in your industry? Why is that or why not?

My experience is mostly at the crossroads of IT and finance, two historically male-dominated fields. Despite progress, the gender gap is still visible.

However, change is happening in this era. Digitalization is everywhere, and the rapid evolution of technology requires diverse perspectives. Women are increasingly able to contribute to these technologies on an equal footing with men, contributing to a positive shift towards inclusivity.

How long have you been a member of WDS?

I’ve been a member of WDS since the winter of 2023.

What was your first interaction with WDS and how was it for you?

Upon joining, I was immediately greeted by Ivona and other members of the community and felt very welcomed. It’s an honor to be a featured member!

What was the reason you joined WDS?

I found WDS after seeking a network of women with similar interests in the digital and tech fields.

Joining has been a great experience, allowing me to connect with new people and learn from their shared stories.

Tell us something about you that might surprise us

I love to sing and enjoy singing with friends (and sometimes strangers) at karaoke. Don’t ask me about the talent level, though. That depends on the day.

Of which professional achievement are you especially proud of?

Starting my own business! I was very fortunate to have the opportunity of professional mentors and colleagues who helped give me the courage to venture out on my own.

Are there many women in your industry? Why is that or why not?

There is a growing number of women in digital marketing. This increase has led to content that resonates deeply and speaks to the experiences of women in today's world. As we navigate the challenges unique to women, I hope this trend continues and more stories are told.

Which aspect of your industry might interest other women to start work in this field?

The creative space!

Often juggling numerous responsibilities, such as raising families and supporting others, we sometimes overlook our own aspirations. Platforms that enable us to express ourselves more openly and creatively offers an opportunity to rediscover our identities beyond our daily duties.

Which future trend is the most interesting in your opinion?

Without a doubt, AI is currently the most talked about subject within our industry. The rapid showing of various AI systems is reshaping the digital landscape. AI is already a game-changer, and I look forward to how we will adapt and collaborate with this technology in the years to come.
